“What do we most need to know this week?” Wisdom (Para-Gram by the Yogi Paramahansa Yogananda)
“Sorrow, illness, and failure are natural results of transgression against God’s laws. Wisdom consists in avoiding such violations and finding peace and happiness within yourself through thoughts and actions that are in harmony with your real Self. Govern your mind wisely by dwelling upon the positive aspects of life.
Do not be satisfied with drops of wisdom from scanty earthly sources; rather, seek wisdom without measure from God’s all-possessing, all-bountiful hands.”
I have a bit of a problem with the first sentence on this card because I do not think that all forms of sorrow, illness and failure are violations of God’s laws (i.e. Karmic). For the most part, they are simply part of life’s challenges. However, what he goes on to say about looking for the positive in these difficulties, is, actually, what wisdom is all about.
Only yesterday someone asked me how she could stay positive without being thrown by all of the un-positive people and situations around her. I explained that every positive has a negative, and vice versa. Looking for the good in the not-so-good is how we learn to do better next time. This is a constant process so we don’t have to beat up on ourselves when the same type of situations arise as they are tests to help us refine our life’s lessons.
So, this week, we need to know that we already know but we have to take the time to allow the answers to surface from within/God (two sides of the same coin, really…).
