Shock goes hand-in-hand with grief and flashbacks – it is characterized by a sense of disbelief and emotional numbness because your brain/psyche cannot comprehend and/or accept whatever has occurred. This causes much mental confusion and an inability to concentrate (i.e. brain fog). What is suggested below may help you regain some clarity.  It may also help you to come to terms with the reality that you are attempting to avoid.

  • Rescue Remedy
  • Peppermint oil and/or tea
  • Woody oils (cedarwood, sandalwood, rosewood)
  • Hands-on techniques (see paragraph below)
  • Nature
  • Get Physical (exercise)
  • Warm bath

Hands-On Techniques

You can give yourself a helping hand(s) by using the following techniques that relieve stress and panic attacks:

1/ Place one hand on your forehead and the other on the back of your head where your skull protrudes slightly (also known as frontal-occipital holding). Hold for three minutes.

2/ Put your right hand over your heart and hold for five minutes.

3/ Place one hand on each knee for a minimum of five minutes.
