When I was exposed to New Age pseudo-spirituality back in the day, I often heard, “Be grateful for the bad things that have happened to you since they have made you stronger, wiser, etc.”
Well, not necessarily…for some people, being abused leaves them permanently incapacitated in some way, or dead. And even for those who are able to alchemize such experiences, that does not mean they should be thanking their abusers. People don’t need to be victimized to be strengthened. This gives the victimizers some kind of demented accolade that they do not deserve in any way, shape or form.
This smacks of the whole ‘forgiveness’ psyop where people are expected to let their victimizers off the hook. This is supposed to be for their own good but it isn’t as I have explained in this article.
There are many detrimental New Age philosophies that are based on an inversion of reality: the ones that do the most harm are those which continuously victimize the victimized.
