1 Corinthians 6:19: Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own.
It may be difficult for some people to believe, or accept, that they did not create themselves. These people tend to believe that they are God – I came across this mentality quite a bit in the early years of my involvement with the New Age Movement.
When I would ask how they created themselves, they could not respond to my question. Sometimes, I would goad them a little by saying something such as: Did you visualize yourself into existence?
Most people believe in a Prime Creator because they sense that only something beyond human comprehension would have the ability to create every living thing in the Universe. They may not refer to it as “God”, but the overall meaning is the same.
The Holy Spirit, as it is named in the Bible, refers to the substance (Light) which infuses everything with life. We are each an aspect, or a piece of this Spirit, or Life Force, as is every living thing.
You Are Not Your Own
This statement at the end of the Biblical verse, may be upsetting to some. However, it is true for two reasons:
1/ Human beings did not create themselves. The Creator of a thing, is the owner of it. Think of it as a piece of art – even though under man-made laws people can give up ownership of their creations if they so choose, or it is taken from them, that is not the case under Natural Law. (Think: The Ten Commandments.)
2/ Natural Law must be adhered to in order to maintain Balance in the Cosmos. Even though people have Free Will, their Will does not override the Will of Creation, or THE Creator. When people violate the rules of the Creator (God, Nature), they will pay for it.
